A Quiet Reset in the Studio 🌿

January always feels like a shift.

After the rush of December, this month brings a quieter energy – a chance to slow down, clear space, and gently reset. In my nursing work, I see how the stress of the festive season often settles in January, replaced by a focus on what matters most, what we’d like to change, and where a slower pace might help.

In the Bobbin & Spool studio, I’ve been leaning into that feeling.

This month has been about decluttering and making space, both physically and mentally. I’ve been sorting through my fabric stash and passing pieces on to others who’ll enjoy crafting with them, rather than holding onto things “just in case”. I always find the process therapeutic – clearing space brings clarity, and helps me feel lighter and more focused as the year begins.

Alongside that quieter work, there’s been plenty happening behind the scenes. I’ve been sourcing beautiful vintage duvet covers to repurpose as bag linings, sewing Japanese-style linen aprons and bunny bags, and choosing bright, cheerful spring prints for an upcoming collection. Flowers, colour, and fabrics that feel like a lift after winter are very much on my mind.

January is also when I start planning further ahead – applying early for artisan and wellbeing markets and festivals, and getting organised in both the sewing shed and on my laptop, ready for a busy season ahead.

Below is a little sneaky peek of some of the fabrics currently inspiring the spring collection 🌸

If you’d like to have a gentle look at what’s available, the shop is always open – with gift vouchers too, if you’re choosing things slowly and with intention.
