Reflecting on 2025 and what’s ahead in 2026

The past year brought the good, the bad, and the ugly - and each has shaped how I step into 2026.

The good has been so good. Meeting you at markets, hearing your stories, and seeing how you connect with pieces made slowly and with care has carried me through some quieter, harder days.

The bad? Those quieter days, the balancing act of running a small business alongside nursing and family life. And the ugly - noise, comparison, and the pressure to do things faster or cheaper than felt right. Each of these moments has reminded me to stay grounded and trust my values.

This year, I’m keeping what matters: making bags intentionally, choosing quality over quantity, and cheering on women at every stage of life. And I’m letting go of trying to please everyone, hustling endlessly, and listening to advice that doesn’t align with who I am or what Bobbin & Spool stands for.

Looking ahead, I’m already dreaming up a spring collection - returning to favourite crossbody bags, shoulder bags and backpacks, with the addition of something extra special for the gym or a weekend away. Markets don’t return until March, but you can still explore favourite samples and enjoy creating your own designs at home - or pick a ready-to-post bag to start the year with something new.

Choosing a spring collection of fabrics is harder than it looks - this could take a while!

I’ll leave you with this lovely note from a customer who designed a bag for her daughter - an art college designer who truly appreciated the process:

“ The bag has arrived - it looks amazing and is soft!! Thank you so much. The butterflies on the front are perfectly positioned and I’m pleased that the colours work so well together. It’s truly beautiful.” Kathrine - Dec 2025

Thank you for supporting handmade, and for being part of this journey. Here’s to a thoughtful, creative, and joyful 2026!
