The comfort of small rituals
This week, as the evenings draw in and the air turns cooler, I’ve been leaning on the little rituals that bring comfort. At 51, as my body shifts through the fun of peri-menopause, I’ve come to appreciate these small gestures even more – the hot water bottle slipped under the duvet before bed, my cashmere gloves pulled on at night, or the simple comfort of a cup of tea delivered to the garden studio by my husband.
It’s not the grand gestures that carry me through, but these tiny acts of care and connection.

Everyday Comforts
There’s something grounding about knowing those comforts are waiting for you: the hot water bottle warming your toes, the cuddle from a daughter after a long market day, the familiar taste of tea on a chilly morning. They’re reminders that life’s richness often lies in the ordinary, the repeatable, and the thoughtful.
The Beauty of Small Things
At Bobbin & Spool, my bags often make a statement – bold fabrics, one-of-a-kind combinations, pieces designed to help women stand tall and feel noticed. But I’ve also learned that the smaller, quieter things can carry just as much meaning. Last week at the market, a young girl, probably around my daughter’s age, wanted to buy a gift for her mum in secret. It wasn’t a birthday or a special occasion – just a little token to say, “I love you, Mum.” I have no doubt that small, unexpected gesture will mean the world to her.
That’s why you’ll also find limited-edition accessories in my shop – little purses, wallets, glasses cases and hot-water-bottle covers that bring a sense of everyday comfort. They may not shout for attention, but they quietly remind us that beauty and joy don’t have to come from big gestures.

Gifting Comfort
Love and appreciation can be shown in many ways, and often the simplest is the most meaningful. That’s why Bobbin & Spool offers gift vouchers. They give the recipient freedom to choose: perhaps a statement bag, perhaps a bespoke creation, or perhaps one of those smaller, everyday luxuries that slip easily into life.
✨ A thoughtful gesture. A reminder they’re seen. A little comfort to carry.
